Our Mental Health Outreach
Healing Hearts God's Way

Who We Are

We are a Biblically-based mental health program which consists of a diverse group of mental health professionals who are committed to using their training to bring healing and hope to our communities. We recognize that we each have been given our gifts from God to serve God and others. It is our goal to work alongside other nonprofits to help them in their mission by offering our mental health services to their program. We base this principle on 1 Corinthians 11:4 "There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the same manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all."

What We Do

Because we believe that we have all been given unique gifts from God, we do not try to reinvent the wheel by creating programs that are already working. Therefore, we believe in partnerships. We currently partner with 15 nonprofits who are doing amazing work in our community. Our mental health program helps our partnerships increase their success rate with a decreased rate of recidivism. We offer one on one counseling, coaching, workshops, groups and classes. Our trauma-informed professionals provide trauma-healing to those who need it most. When our nonprofit partners prosper, we all prosper!
1 Corinthians 12:25 "that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it."

What's Different

What sets our program apart is that we incorporate the message of the love of Jesus Christ in all that we do. Our team is ethnically diverse, from different denominations and socioeconomic backgrounds, all working together as one to bring mental health support to our community. Our beautiful city has many immigrants from various countries, many have experienced trauma. Therefore, we offer various therapeutic techniques to help people heal, from EMDR, CBT, Pilates body movement, and Equine therapy. All that we do is Christ-centered. We see ourselves as a part of the whole. Alone, we are limited in our impact, but together in unity, we can transform our community.
Psalms 133:1,3b "Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!..For there the Lord commanded the blessings-Life forevermore."

Your Support is making a Difference!

Imagine:
1. You are 40 years old having spent the last 30 years being sold for sex. You find your way to a healthy organization who
provides a home for you with plenty to eat, new clothes, new friends and even a job. You are finally free. You know that you
should feel safe, but your mind is still in bondage to the monsters who stole your identity and self-worth. You feel empty.
2. Imagine the man finally released from prison. He is a part of a program which provides all that he needs for a fresh start in
life, but the world has changed, and he is plagued with anxiety as thoughts of the trauma that caused his drug use begin to
haunt him. He is tempted to medicate the pain. He wants to change but he feels powerless. He needs help but cannot afford it.
3. A little boy in fourth grade is encouraged by his mentor to complete his homework this time, but as he walks home, all he can
think about is his mom lying in a pool of blood. She was murdered right before his eyes. He feels lost, alone and afraid.
4. A soldier is back home and hasn’t been in active duty for years but the war in his mind never ends. His family suffers the loss
of their father/husband because he’s no longer the same. He lives in a constant state of panic while his family grieves.
These stories, though horrific, are typical for the clients we have the honor of serving. Most of us cannot fathom what our clients
have endured and yet our Christ-centered mental health program is bringing both hope and healing to our brothers and sisters in
need. Your financial support has made this possible. Your support is making a difference!
Building Bridges Ministries was created to bring hope and help to the abused and to equip those who minister to them!

Pastor Adrion Roberson

Co-Founder & Executive Director
My name is Pastor Adrion Roberson and I am honored to serve as the co-founder/executive director for KC
United! Youth/Family Sports & Education Initiative out of Kansas City, Kansas. We have been and are blessed by
God to be going strong for the past thirteen years primarily serving in the urban core of Wyandotte County.
We felt led to bring on people who could provide Biblical counseling for the social/emotional ‘traumas’ that they
may have been dealing with. Especially post covid. Needless to say, this was one decision that we KNOW was and
continues to be a blessing from God/Jesus. What Building Bridges Mental Health is providing is nothing short of helping us build more capacity to meet our participants (youth/teens/parents/guardians) social/emotional needs.
They help us give a holistic ‘balance’ to what we desire to fulfill in KC United! Why, because our theme:
“Strengthening our city one soul, one life…one family at a time”. Is the whole core of who we are and desire to
be.We also believe that you cannot have a strong city unless you have STRONGER families.Through Jesus Christ and Building Bridges we KNOW we will fulfill this vision!
