She was also co- owner of  Kings Vending Company which she ran in San Diego, CA. Sherrie also owned a Subway restaurant in Kansas City, KS before becoming a therapist.
Her vision is to create opportunities for organizations to gather regularly to discuss the needs of our different communities, sharing one another’s burdens and together, coming up with solutions.
Sherrie has witnessed the power of unity and is passionate about working towards lasting change in her community.

Don Lewis

Vice President
Pastor Don served as senior pastor of Cross Points Church for eleven years, and seven years as an associate pastor of the same church with an emphasis on fatherhood to the urban communities in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

He is currently serving as the community pastor of New Life CityChurch in downtown Kansas City, MO. Pastor Don formerly served the Washington Dulles International Airport as its senior chaplain. . Besides his chaplaincy, Pastor Lewis also served as the program director of Youth for Tomorrow, a residential facility for at-risk adolescent males. His work has been featured in the Washington Times, People Magazine, the Family Research Council magazine and other articles and books. Pastor Don testified before the senate subcommittee, Children, Youth and Families on behalf of pro-family organizations in Washington D. C., and he also served as regional director for Prison Fellowship’s Mid-Atlantic Neighbors Who Care, a crime victim’s assistance ministry. .

Kim Perkins

Kim Perkins is a licensed CPA who became involved with Building Bridges as a Life Coach in the summer of 2020. Kim has been a follower of Christ and lover of people for many years.

Dr. Shawn Derritt

Board Member
Dr. Derritt serves as the Dean of Student Services at Kansas City Kansas Community College. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the Social and Behavioral Sciences department at KCKCC. He has been invited to be a guest lecturer for the graduate Counseling Psychology program at the University of Kansas and an adjunct faculty member for UMKC's Higher Education and Administration graduate program.

Before his current role, Dr. Derritt served as a Student Advisor for 10 years at KCKCC and as the Director of Advising for 4 years at KCKCC. As an advisor, he had the privilege of assisting many students, and he still cherishes the moments when he runs into former students within the community.

Dereje Zegeye

Dereje Zegeye has a wealth of experience in both business and nonprofit sectors. Dereje has a BA in Geography from Addis Ababa Univeristy, MSc in Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering from Southampton University, UK 1987
Language skills: Amharic, Afan Oromo, and English
Philanthropic Organization involvement includes:
Project Manager 2022 – 2023 and President Elect 2023 – 2024 Rotary Club of Addis Ababa, Hilton Hotel, AA. Ethiopia:
raised funds for water well drilling, and girl’s hostel renovation projects in different states.

Member World Indigenous Mission and board member and secretary of Donors for Christian Education Foundation (DCEF), USA. Board Chairman, Eagle Charity Organization, (ECO) Addis Ababa, Ethiopia:
built a kindergarten and an elementary school in Guntuta in Oromia Regional State, by raising funds in the USA through DCEF and other organizations.
 Assisted in transfer of knowledge and experience to non-for-profit organizations, churches, and communities in Ethiopia.

designing and piloting innovations that address challenging societal issues, Lucy has seen first-hand the
power of collaboration to create cultural change.

Lucy is masterful at networking. She has pulled together over 1,500 volunteers from coast to coast to
read children’s essays about their fathers, presented father-daughter workshops to over 11,000
daughters and dads in 4 countries, trained and deployed 300 volunteers in search of missing youth and
lead dozens of multi-sector teams in crafting strategies for good.
